Grid error when adding two images to one grid row

Description

I have a grid made up of two Ansel fields. The grid is not required, but each of the two images is required per row (min and max = 1). Title, caption, and featured options are turned off.

When I add the first image, I get an error: "There was a problem with one or more Grid fields". I add the second image; no new error for the second Ansel image but the first error stays the same, preventing me from saving. If I then delete the first image and re-add it, that first error goes away and I'm able to save.

    Hi, sorry for the delay. I am able to duplicate this issue and I'm 99% certain this is a Grid problem and not an Ansel problem. I have opened a thread on the EE forums about it: https://expressionengine.com/forums/topic/251210/grid-field-validation-with-ansel

    Hi TJ,

    Following up on this one, after EE released 4.2.0. My initial bug has been resolved, but now the ansel fields within my grid row aren't respecting the REQUIRED field. I have a grid with zero or one rows. The grid is not required. The grid row has two ansel fields, each of which are required. But the requirement isn't being enforced in the entry form in the control panel.

    I have been unable to reproduce the requirement not being met in the latest version of EE.

    I'm in EE 4.2.2 and using Ansel 2.1.5 and I'm still having this problem. To confirm you're reproducing my setup, I have:

    • a field of type grid
      • required? no
      • search? no
      • hide? no
      • min rows: 0
      • max rows: 1
    • Two grid fields therein, both:
      • required? yes
      • search? no
      • max quantity: 1
      • prevent upload when max quantity reached? yes

    With that set up, when I add a row to in the entry editor I expect to be required to add images to both ansel grid fields. However, there's no requirement enforced. I can fill zero, one, or two of the ansel fields.

    You're not experiencing this? You are indeed required to fill both ansel fields within the grid row?
