Entry Field Type Feature Request
#141 opened by Bryan
Description
Hi, I've added the Construct Field Type to a couple channels that publish static pages and I've noticed a couple things that seem odd.
Would it be possible to create the Node Name AND Slug? Current functionality only allows the user to enter the Slug. This causes an issue were the Name is automatically created from the Slug and needs to be changed in the Tree Settings.
Regarding the Name and Slug, would it be possible to have that info autofill from the Entry Title and URL Title. I would find that very useful since I don't really see a need for the node name and entry title to be different, maybe this could be added as an option in the field type settings.
Last but not least, after assigning entries to a segment and saving the entry, I couldn't figure out why my new entry was not showing up in menu tree on the front-end of the site, after a bunch of digging and hair pulling I found that the the entry node is hidden by default and has to be edited in the Tree Settings in order for it to be visible. Maybe this could also be an option in the field type settings.
Overall, I've found Construct to be fairly intuitive, but the lack of these features negate the use of a field type in the first place. Why use a field type if you have to go in and manually change a bunch of stuff in the tree settings after you publish a new entry. Just doesn't make sense to me.
Let me know if I'm just doing something wrong and missing some settings somewhere, or if these features can be added to a future version?
Thank you :)

I don't particularly disagree about any of these issues and I have ideas on how to fix them but I don't know when next I'll be working on major features for Construct. It's not a high-volume seller and I haven't really been able to justify spending time on it. That said I do plan to spend some time on Construct at some point, I just can't say when.
